Bold State Makes A Move Against Planned Parenthood

In a bold move to protect the sanctity of life and uphold the rule of law, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has taken decisive action against Planned Parenthood’s operations in the state. Bailey has issued a cease-and-desist order to the organization, demanding an immediate halt to chemical abortions within Missouri’s borders. This action underscores the state’s commitment to safeguarding both unborn children and the health of women.

Bailey’s order to Planned Parenthood Great Rivers-Missouri is clear: cease performing chemical abortions or face severe legal consequences. The attorney general’s investigation revealed that Planned Parenthood is not in compliance with Missouri law, specifically § 188.021.2, which mandates a valid plan to address complications from chemical abortions. The order highlights that “up to 4.6% of women who receive chemical abortions are forced to seek emergency medical attention,” underscoring the potential dangers these procedures pose to women.

Missouri law requires that any chemical used in abortions must have an approved plan to treat complications, especially when more than one percent of cases require surgical intervention. Planned Parenthood’s failure to establish such a plan is a glaring oversight that cannot be ignored. Bailey pointed out the organization’s troubling history of legal violations in Missouri, stating, “Any suggestion that there is no risk of Planned Parenthood violating this law is illusory.”

This is not the first time Planned Parenthood has faced challenges in Missouri. The organization has repeatedly failed to comply with state laws, including those related to reporting requirements and informed consent. These violations demonstrate a blatant disregard for both the law and the well-being of women and children.

Mat Staver, chairman of Liberty Counsel, emphasized the grave implications of chemical abortions. “Chemical abortions harm women physically and emotionally and cruelly kill defenseless children in the womb,” he stated. The abortion industry’s disregard for life is a stark contrast to the values of faith, family, and freedom that are cherished by many Americans.

While Missouri voters made abortion a constitutional “right” in the state in November 2024, Planned Parenthood’s operations remain under scrutiny. Planned Parenthood officials have acknowledged their Missouri facilities are not currently offering chemical abortions and will not do so until they comply with the necessary complication plans.

This development is a testament to the ongoing battle to protect life and uphold traditional values in America. It serves as a reminder that the fight for the unborn and the protection of women’s health is far from over. As Christians and conservatives, it is our duty to stand firm in our beliefs, advocating for a society that respects life, honors family, and cherishes freedom.
